States of Consciousness
States of Consciousness, a classic by world authority Charles T. Tart, is a basic understanding of how the mind is a dynamic, culturally biased, semi-arbitrary construction and system. A systematic exploration of how and why altered states can come about and their possibilities. As a student of his remarked, “For the first weeks of class I didn’t understand what those diagrams were about, but I’ve realized the book is all about the way my own mind works!” Useful in understanding some of the important ways your mind works before you start altering it.---This is a classic, and has been one of the most important books on states of consciousness for 30 years. It is (to my limited knowledge) the first serious work on this subject, and one that launched an entire new field of science.Altered states of consciousness
Miracles of Mind: Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness and Spritual Healing (Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness and Spiritual Healing)
Russell Targ, Ph.d. Jane Katra
Hello, This book is a terrific mix of both science-type information and what could be considered almost opposite-healing in a psychic way. The 2 authors gave me what I was looking for- support in the idea that there is alot more going on than our little minds are aware of! I just can't explain how well it is done and how it made an impact on my thinking. Awesome!
Limitless Mind : A Guide to Remote Viewing and Transformation of Consciousness
Popular misconceptions of psychic ability and ESP have often prevented these topics from being taken seriously, yet an abundance of scientific research shows that we have a tremendous capacity for developing these talents. In 1972, physicist Russell Targ, co-founded the Stanford Research Institute’s program to investigate the development of psychic abilities. In his ten years with this program, he came to understand that most people have the ability to describe events and locations that are blocked from ordinary perception. The term remote-viewing was coined for this ability. In this, his sixth book, Targ explores the scientific as well as the spiritual implications of remote viewing and offers detailed exercises to assist readers in cultivating their own psychic abilities.Russell offers several techniques and exercises to overcome all of this clatter and to develop remote-viewing skills. Remote-viewing offers a path of self-inquiry and self-realization and expands our limited awareness of the consciousness shared by all humans.\*\*

2001 - Learning to Use Extrasensory Perception
By the author of Altered States of Consciousness All attempts to test people's ESP abilities overlook the fact that ESP is an undeveloped function, so we have to learn how to use it to begin with, not just see how much ESP we can show. Psychologist Charles T. Tart applies basic principles of learning to this task to show how training under conditions of immediate feedback can enhance ESP ability. This highly readable book, originally published by the University of Chicago Press, is the theory and a comprehensive study suggesting the principles can work.

Open mind, discriminating mind : reflections on human possibilities
This wide-ranging book presents explorations in areas Charles Tart, international authority on consciousness and parapsychology, believes are at the cutting edge of research, presented in a way that is scientifically sound, but easily readable and personally relevant. The book is intended to expand our horizons of what our possibilities are, as we spend too much of our time living in culturally- and self-imposed limitations that cramp our true being and produce useless suffering. Topics include meditation, lucid dreaming, how to use a psychic reading, possible postmodern survival, dream yoga, altered states of consciousness and enlightenment.
Waking up : overcoming the obstacles to human potential
G. I. Gurdjieff taught that we are not really awake, but are entranced automatons, controlled by mechanical habits of thought, perception and behavior. Tart clearly presents the evidence for how deeply asleep we are and its consequences, and then describes methods for becoming more awake, less asleep, more spiritual, less mechanical, allowing us to realize our full potential. Problems with spiritual teachers and groups along the way are sensitively analyzed and ways given to avoid them, so we can become more intelligent and compassionate, rather than members of some cult.
PSI: Scientific Studies of the Psychic Realm (A Dutton Paperback Original)
This is the first book-length report of the thinking and studies of one of Americas foremost investigators of the psychic realm. Tart, an international authority on human consciousness, has studied such aspects of psi as telepathy, out-of-the-body experiences, and the human aura. Here he goes beyond the usual arguments for or against the existence of psi and instead discusses what we know about it and its implications for understanding our human and spiritual nature.
The end of materialism : how evidence of the paranormal is bringing science and spirit together
Smith, Huston;tart, Charles T.;smith, Kendra
This book presents a systematic argument about how the evidence from parapsychology shows that it's sensible to be both scientific and spiritual in your orientation to life. Given the enormous number of people who are suffering uselessly because they think Science has proven that all spiritual stuff is nonsense and craziness, this revolutionary book offers a healing tonic. Instead of rhetorically arguing with those who would claim that paranormal phenomena and capacities simply cannot exist, Dr. Tart calmly lays out a wealth of oft-ignored evidence establishing the reality of telepathy, precognition, psychic healing, and other aspects of advance human capacity. The end result is not an argument against science, but rather a vision that affirms how much the practical union of scientific rigor and spiritual experience has to offer us all. "This beautifully written book is not only a masterful survey of parapsychology and psychical research, but also a thoughtful analysis of scientific inquiry and how it can be used to explore and explain the spiritual aspects of human nature." -- Stanley Krippner, Ph.D., coeditor, Varieties of Anomalous Experience This is the digital edition of the original print book published by New Harbinger Publications in association with the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
Body, mind, spirit : exploring the parapsychology of spirituality
Charles T. Tart, Charles T. Tart, Charles T. Tart
Addressing the split between practitioners of science and those of spirituality, Charles Tart presents the considerations of well-known researchers and authors such as William Roll, Ramakrishna Rao, Michael Grosso, and Jeffrey Mishlove on such subjects as God, life after death, channeling, and other dimensions. A ground-breaking work that may surprise many readers.
Secrets of Power by Ingo Swann, Vol. 1: Individual Empowerment vs the Societal Panorama of Power and Depowerment

Mind trek : exploring consciousness, time, and space through remote viewing
Joseph Mcmoneagle; Charles T. Tart; Joe Mcmoneagle
Remote Viewing (RV) is the ability to perceive and describe detailed information about a remote place, person, or thing--regardless of the normal boundaries of time and space. For over 25 years it has represented the cutting edge of research into the powers of the mind. Mind Trek provides us with insight into new perceptions and realities and gives us an understanding of how to deal with the doubts and fears of the RV learning process. By showing the effects research has had on the author as a subject, it points to consciousness as the ultimate time-machine and the mind as the gateway to human creativity. It also establishes our own clear responsibility for the design of our future. This book also provides excellent guidelines for how to begin your own journey toward perfecting the art of Remote Viewing.
Psychic sexuality : the bio-psychic "anatomy" of sexual energies
An intelligent and intellectual work on the subject of sex in all it's aspects.
Mind science : meditation training for practical people
Rich with lucid instructions and practical insights, Mind Science dispels the metaphysical haze that all too often surrounds the subject of meditation. Based on a lively workshop with fellow scientists, this book shows how the pragmatic and scientifically-inclined among us can bring mindfulness into everyday life without religious baggage, while clearly explaining its many spiritual and health benefits.
Altered States of Consciousness
Whenever I speak on the topic of dreams, I mention a very unusual sort of dream, the "lucid" dream (see Chapter 8) in which the dreamer knows he is dreaming and feels fully conscious in the dream itself. After discussing some of the philosophical and semantic difficulties in defining states of consciousness, I always ask whether anyone has the slightest doubt that he is awake, that is, in a "normal" state of consciousness at that moment; I have never found anyone who had difficulty in making this distinction. In introducing a book of readings on altered states of consciousness, I find myself in a similar position: there is a multitude of philosophical and semantic problems in defining just what "normal" consciousness and "altered" states of consciousness are, yet at this instant I have not the slightest doubt that I am in my normal state of consciousness. Yet there have been a number of occasions in my life when I have not had the slightest difficulty in realizing that I was in an altered state of consciousness (ASC). Thus I shall give only the simplest sort of definition of what an ASC is here and let the articles in this book flesh it out: our knowledge of ASCs is too incomplete at this time for a tight conceptualization.
Limitless Mind : A Guide to Remote Viewing and Transformation of Consciousness
The psychic abilities of most humans are dampened by the clatter of our conscious minds. In this timely book, Russell Targ draws on the work of ancient mystics and traditions — Gnostic, Christian, Buddhist, Kabalistic Jewish, Sufi, yogi, and especially Hindu spiritual master Patanjali — to show readers how to quiet this noise and see into the far reaches of time and space through remote viewing. This psychic ability offers a path of self-inquiry and self-realization and expands each person's limited awareness of the consciousness shared by all humans. Targ explores its scientific as well as spiritual implications and offers techniques and exercises to nurture this universal but mostly untapped skill. Library Journal According to ESP researcher Targ (Miracles of Mind: Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness and Spiritual Healing), humankind's natural psychic abilities are simply another way to look for the experience of love. Drawing on significant research and many interesting (but ultimately pointless) anecdotes, he seeks to explain the scientific and spiritual value of remote viewing, i.e., the ability to receive and communicate information intuitively, and to show readers how to develop it. Precognition, seeing objects, intuitive diagnosis of illnesses, and distant healing are poorly explained, as is the relationship between remote viewing and spirituality. The trouble is, Targ spends too much time defending his profession and not enough explaining key concepts. Lacking...
