Luftwaffe : field and flak divisions
Robert Kirchubel Dmitriy Zgonnik Издательство: Concord Publications
Изображения: цветные и черно-белые фото, цветные рисункиThe relative ease of the German conquests prior to their invasion of the USSR (Operation Barbarossa) disguised many of the Luftwaffes inherent weaknesses. Even the consequences of the Battle of Britain, which Hitler pursued only half-heartedly, were not exposed until years after the fact. Despite the Luftwaffes stunning initial successes against the Red Army Air Force, the invasion of the Soviet Union had an immediate negative impact on the Luftwaffe: its losses on Barbarossas first day (92 aircraft on 22 June 1941) exceed those of the Battle of Britains deadliest day (79 aircraft on 15 September 1940).

Barbarossa: No. 6522
Robert Kirchubel, Ramiro Bujeiro
The largest invasion the world has ever seen kicked off on 22 June 1941, as Hitlers massed forces swarmed across the border into the Soviet Union. Operation Barbarossa, as the campaign was named, was supposed to last just ten weeks. In fact, Germany enjoyed five months of victory before they were eventually denied and turned away at the very gates of Moscow. Thus, the long and slow road to defeat began. This new book by Robert Kirchubel outlines Germanys ambitious hopes for Operation Barbarossa via a careful selection of photos.

Cn6526 The German Invasion Of Yugoslavia 1941
Gordon Rotimrin Dmitiiv Zgonnik
Изображения: цветные и черно-белые фото, цветные рисункиBefore discussing Operation 25, the April 1941 Axis invasion of Yugoslavia—the April War—we must first briefly examine the geography of the Balkans. The Balkans—southeast Europe—the Balkans Peninsula named after the Balkan Mountains running through central Bulgaria, encompass Yugoslavia, Greece, Romania, Albania, and the small piece of European Turkey with Istanbul. Yugoslavia with almost 99,000 square miles (158,944km:) was the largest of the countries with Romania the second largest followed by Greece, Bulgaria, and Albania. In 1941 Yugoslavia was surrounded by enemies. The rugged length of its west coast faced the Adriatic Sea controlled by the Italian Navy. A small stretch of Yugoslavias northwest corner bordered Italys Trieste region. Its northern border was faced by Germany (previously Austria) and further east, the Germans ally, Hungary. On its eastern border was Romania and to that countrys south was Bulgaria, both which had sided with Germany. The southern border faced Greece and thrusting into Yugoslavias southeast corner on the Adriatic was Italian-controlled Albania.
Arsenal for Aggression: Armored Vehicles of the Warsaw Pact [Concord 2017]
The armed forces of the Warsaw Pact, composed of the armies of seven diverse countries, deployed most powerful ground forces in the history of 20th century Europe. The most important elements of the Warsaw Pact armies were their armored forces. Assigned to fight in western Europe, they were under the complete control of Soviet generals. From the end of the 1940s, to the late 1980s when the Warsaw Pact disintegrated, their ostensible objective was to safeguard the Communist bloc. But their real task was to carry the war onto the territories of the neighboring NATO countries. This was the reason for their need for strong armored forces.
